How to transfer an Interment Right

There are 3 types of categories by which an Interment Right may be transferred. 

A transfer fee will apply for each burial site transferred.

1. Transfer of Interment Right by Bequest – Will/Probate
When the deceased holder of a right of interment has left a will that specifics a beneficiary/ies to whom the right is to be transferred to.

What is required:

  • Death certificate of current holder
  • Last will and testament
  • Order of probate (if applicable)
  • Proof of identity of the beneficiary 

Note: Additional documentation may be requested


2. Transfer of Interment Right by Intestacy – No Will/Probate, family lineage applies

When the deceased holder of the right of interment has not left a will.

What is required:

  • Death certificate of current holder
  • Proof of identity of the beneficiary
  • Grant of letters of administration (if required)

Note: Additional documentation may be requested

3. Transfer of Interment Right by Holder

When the holder of the right of interment is alive and wishes to transfer the right to another person. Please note, additional details will be required in order to complete the Transfer of an Interment Right Form.

What is required:

  • Details of the new Holder/s (Full name, Date of birth)
  • Proof of identity 
  • Contact details (Address, Phone and Email)
  • Important: Identity of the person(s) who may be interred
  • Important: Next of kin/secondary contact details, as nominated by the new Holder of Right
